The pencil post bed is an elegant piece of furniture that fits well in any décor. This simple, yet beautiful bed features finely-tapered posts and traditional mortise-and-tenon joinery.
In this four-day course, you'll learn how to layout and taper the octagonal posts as well as mortise the posts for the bedrails and headboard. You can choose to build this bed in twin or queen size. At week's end, you'll take home a beautiful and heirloon-quality piece of furniture. (The bed bolt construction allows you to easily disassemble this bed for transport home.)
Topics Include:
- Tapering the posts
- Constructing with mortise-and-tenon
- Mounting bed bolt hardware
- Shaping and fitting the headboard
- Carving the lambstongue at the ends of the tapers
