This small keepsake box is a scaled-down version of our popular blanket chest. Just like the blanket chest, it features strong, hand-cut dovetail construction, dovetailed bracket feet, and two drawers. The hinged lid is trimmed with a delicate molding and opens to reveal a removable storage tray.

Despite the small size, constructing this beautifully proportioned piece is a challenge that is certain to increase your skill level.  In this class you'll learn new skills and also create an heirloom piece to take home with you.

Topics Include:

  • Techniques for dovetailing a box

  • Methods for attaching bracket feet

  • Making and fitting lipped drawers

  • Breadboard end construction

  • Fitting a tray

Note: The shop is air conditioned for your comfort!

Prerequisite: Woodworking Essentials  The Keepsake Box is a very challenging project that requires considerable handtool skills. We want you to be prepared for this advanced course so that you will gain the most from your experience. Please read the Prerequisite page for details on our policy.

Class size is limited to nine students so that you’ll receive personal attention and instruction.
