Build a Spice Box – Choose from two styles!

Our spice cabinet has always been one of our most popular classes. Now we've added even more details to this beautiful piece. You can choose between two traditional doors: A double arched tombstone, or a Chester County line & berry inlay door. We've carefully designed each door to be beautiful--so you'll have a tough decision! The new interior has more details, too, including thirteen drawers and a few hidden compartments just for fun. You can also choose between bracket feet or ogee feet.

 Each participant must mill the stock for the main box and dovetail the case at home before the class begins. This will provide valuable time during class to work on the line & berry door, tombstone door, interior dividers, feet, molding and other details. We'll send you a drawing with the dovetail layout so you'll have plenty of time to work at your own pace and cut the dovetails before class begins.

Topics Include:

• Methods for line & berry inlay
• Constructing an arched frame-and-panel door
• Carefully fitting doors and small drawers with a hand plane
• Making and applying moldings
• Mounting hinges and locks

Class size is limited to eight students so that you'll receive personal attention and instruction.

Prerequisite: Woodworking Essentials. The spice cabinet is a very challenging project that requires considerable handtool skills. We want you to be prepared for this advanced course so that you will gain the most from your experience. Please read the Prerequisite page for details on our policy.
